How we calculate your potential savings
We use your answers, conservative recovery factors and published industry research. The calculator estimates an opportunity—it does not promise that every dollar or hour will be recovered.
Organization profile
Employee count and salary set the value of recovered time. Location count and industry provide context for the result but do not inflate the dollar estimate.
Employee time
We convert salary to an hourly value using 2,080 working hours and a 20% allowance for employer costs. Only 50–60% of the time selected is treated as recoverable.
Managed IT
Your support model is assigned a conservative level of general IT disruption, excluding WiFi and cabling. The cyber allowance uses CIRA’s 2025 ransomware incidence, payment rate and minimum typical payment, then applies a support-maturity factor. We do not place IBM’s multimillion-dollar breach average directly into your result.
Calls
We count 35% of the monthly missed-call value you selected as potentially recoverable through better routing, availability and follow-up.
Networks
Selected WiFi and cabling hours are valued using your hourly employee cost. We apply a 60% recovery factor and ask you to exclude WiFi time from cabling to prevent double counting.
Security
We count 35% of the annual premises-related costs you selected as potentially addressable. This is based on your experience—not a generic break-in cost.
Collaboration
Meeting-room technology time is valued using your hourly employee cost, with only 50% treated as recoverable.
Research informing the model
- CIRA 2025 Cybersecurity Survey — 42% reported a data breach; 24% were ransomware victims and 74% of those victims paid.
- IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report: Canada, 2025 — the Canadian average reached CA$6.98 million. This enterprise-scale figure provides context but is not inserted into the estimate.
- Canadian Centre for Cyber Security: National Cyber Threat Assessment 2025–2026 — current assessment of threats affecting Canadian organizations.
- Uptime Institute: Annual Outage Analysis 2026 — connectivity-related outages are rising and 57% of surveyed major outages exceeded US$100,000.
- CallRail: The cost of missed calls, 2025 — 28% of calls to businesses go unanswered on average.
- Jabra: Cost of Bad Meetings Report, 2026 — technical problems affect three in four hybrid meetings and cost nearly 11 minutes per meeting.
- Statistics Canada: Police-reported crime statistics, 2025 — current national premises-risk context. The calculator uses your own annual security-related costs rather than a generic loss figure.
